Well we have almost finished the month of T being gone. It has surely been an adventure and I hope that every month of the year he is gone wont be quite as 'exciting'!! I am still progressing along in my class and at the end of the week will already be half way done with it! I am starting to learn how to manage my study time with L better, but have had to have many late nights to get it all done! Looks like I may have to take up drinking coffee or just stock up on ale8 the next time we are in! L is doing great, he is learning so many new words and is just plain hilarious...now I know where the saying oh the kids things say comes from. He will just come out of no where with some of it, and I cant wait for T to get home so that he can hear him!! The word of the week has been "awesome" which is even funnier because he uses it in context! Maybe that means I praise him a little too much :)
We got our first real snow this weekend. They had everyone out stocking up on supplies thinking that it could potentially be equivalent to our ice storm last year, where everyone lost power for days if not weeks. We luckily just got snow...we got at least 5-6 inches if not more...but in areas we have feet. This was L's first snow--last year we only got the ice storm and the year before he was just a couple months old so he had never been able to play in it--luckily I am a bit OCD and plan ahead for everything so I already had all of the snow gear ready. L enjoyed being pulled around the yard on the sled but we are hoping the snow will still be here a little longer so T can teach him how to play in it when he gets home! I am a really good sport about being a "single" mom and doing the things that T ususally does, but I am just not very good at playing in the snow! I am quite content watching from inside with a large cup of hot chocolate! But I was a good sport and took him out--video to come shortly! I even got about 1/3 of our huge driveway shoveled last night after L went to bed...hope to get the rest done today!
Busy day ahead...have lots of cleaning to do since it seems the only time I get to clean is the weekends now...lots of textbook reading to do, which is always a blast...and of course I cant forget about the driveway needing to be shoveled :) Cant wait for T to get home...this month has gone by faster then I expected but we sure have missed him!
I have finally decided to start this blog, to help you--our family and friends be able to keep up with what we are doing and how L is growing, while we are away!

week 2 down
I have officially made it through week 2! I must say that I knew it would be hard to study with a 2 year old, but it has proven to be a challenge! I think the seperation is still a little bit of a factor with L, he still asks where daddys is and when he wants help with something he tells me no I want daddy. So I think it will only get better, but I am definitely having to learn to go with the flow and cram in as much studying during the down times as I can! I had my first exam on monday and luckily did well...I am an A student, but couldnt have been more happy with the B I got on it!! I felt very unprepared going into it--L had a tough weekend so my study time was minimal, and just out of practice since this was my first test with this go round of school. Only 7 people out of the whole class passed the test so I was happy!! With it being an 8 week term it is moving very fast so I am now studying for exam 2 and hoping to do as well if not better on it!
L is adjusting well to going to another "school" in addition to his preschool. With my classes being mon-thurs I have had to put him in hourly care at the day care on post for 3 hours on mondays and wednesdays. He still really loves his preschool days on tues/thurs but he is being quite a champ about the additional days at the CDC. He is running the roost there, I went to pick him up wednesday and while all the other kids were taking a nap he and 2 other boys were out in the hallway playing with one of the teachers--not sure how he pulled that one, but it was nice that I was able to put him down for a late nap after my class to get a few things done!!
We have heard a little from T lately. His communication is limited from not having cell phone service, but we have the benefit of his job that he has the internet--so we have been emailing back and forth and enjoying the suprise phone calls when he is able! We are anxiously awaiting his return and cant wait to spend lots of time with him!

Week 1 Down
I survived week one of school! It will definitely be alot of working having classes that are 8 weeks long instead of 16 but it will definitely be worth it! It has been nice to have something to keep me busy this week with T being gone. He has been gone a week and half now and we miss him terribly. It is funny how much I take having him here for granted, he is my best friend, my other half, my sanity saver, my toddler occupier, and great helper when I am in need. T truly is an amazing husband and father and it has really opened my eyes to single parenthood not having him here! Little L is surely missing him and has routinely told me during bathtime no he wanted daddy to wash him. So I guess it will take some time to get use to but we are surviving!! I got all of my assignments done over the last couple of nights and have some studying to do for my first exam tuesday but luckily we have MLK day on monday so I wont have school. It will be a challenge finding time to study with little L starving for attention but once we get a routine down it should get better!
Hope you are all doing well...I will keep you updated on T once we know more. We are now officially 49 days, or 7 weeks, away from disney!!! I have found that planning a trip to disney can also make for a great distraction and have also found that you can spend hours and hours on the web looking at all there is to do!

Back to School
Well T has made it to fort polk safely! We were excited to get a quick email from him letting us know how things were going. He has no cell phone service there so we arent expecting any phone calls anytime soon, but a perk to his job is that he does have internet service--he obviously isnt sitting at a computer all day but hopefully will be able to email us periodically over the time he is gone! We have had our fair share of seperations for trainings during our time together but this will be the first without communication--and I must say it has already proved to be a big challenge for me! I try to stay positive and think that at least he is in a safe place, but its really hard to go a month without talking to your husband, my best friend. So we are hoping for little L to get to talk to him soon, it would definitely be a nice suprise!!
As for me I start school for the second go round today! I am a little nervous and thinking that you might just want to call me crazy but also a little excited at the same time! For those of you that I havent talked to lately my first degree has proven to not be very military family friendly--since I dont really have the option to work nights and weekends while T is gone. So I have decided to pursue an RN degree and hopefully get that done before we move again. I started college out many years ago premedicine so I am super excited to be going back to it, and somewhat wish I had never left it! So wish me luck, I know Ill be one of the old people in the class that I use to talk about, but hopefully since I obviously wont be doing much partying this go round it might come a little easier!!
L's school was cancelled both days last week, once for the heater being broken and the other was a snow day! So we are excited to start him back to school tomorrow, I am sure he has missed his friends!!
Another quick update: we have booked a trip to disney!! Cant wait to give you more details as we plan them, but we are counting down the days til our trip to the most magical place on earth!!

T's Training
T left today for a month of training...its been a long time since we have done a long stent like this away from him! Its been over a year since we have gone more than a week to 10 days without seeing him! Keep T in your prayers that they have safe travel and that he is safe while he is down there...and also keep little L and I in your prayers to be strong while he is away! While T has left for a few weeks here and there and for 5 months last year this deployment will be our first with L and we are not looking forward to it!! Little L is definitely a daddys boy...he cried yesterday when T went to check the mail, you would have thought he was leaving for years! So anyways I know this month will go fast, but just keep all of us in your prayers and think about us every once in a while!!
Music City Bowl
T and I finally made plans to go out for a fun night without little L!! The ITR (travel) office on base was giving away 400 tickets to the music city bowl to active duty soldiers and their families--so we snatched up four tickets and made plans for a great weekend! We made the trip down to nashville with T's little brother and T's best friend Josh. It was a great time, but a very cold one I must add!! Even with my long underwear, 3 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of socks, shoes, 1 tshirt, 2 long sleeve tshirts, 1 sweatshirt, 1 winter jacket, gloves, hat, and 2 blankets I thought I was going to freeze to death!! I made it until half way through the 3rd quarter before I really started to be miserable! I think the worst of the weather was because we were at the Titans stadium which is right on the river so the wind was kicking our butts!! The game was fun, but unfortunately the cats got beat! We all had a great time though! The boys made me drive home since I am the most aggresive of the bunch at getting out of traffic and parking lots, but while they were all being backseat drivers I got us home safe and sound and in great time!
Did I mention how bomb our free seats were?? :)

Christmas
Its incredible how fast time can fly!! It seems like the past month has gotten away from us in no time! So because we have been so busy, I have slacked on keeping you all up to date, so I will briefly try to get everyone up to date!!
We started out Christmas with hanging here at our house and waiting for Santa to arrive. We made Santas favorite chocolate chip cookies, but little L wasnt so sure about giving his favorite cookies to some man he doesnt know, so he took a few bites off the plate :)
After enjoying his toys and some breakfast we packed up and headed to my dads family to celebrate with all our family there! L had a blast and got lots more toys that he didnt need :) We sure did enjoy our visit even though it was a quick one, its always nice to see the loved ones we dont get to see very often!!
We then continued our christmas day travels to visit T's dad's family. We were a little late getting there since we try and juggle several places in one day but were still able to catch up with all L's cousins to play and eat some good food courtesy of t's aunt pam. L had a blast and got spoiled even more (are you noticing a trend here haha). Here was the best of my attempts to get a picture of all of the great grandchildren together--granted there were about 10 of us trying to capture this picture at once, but hopefully someone was more successful than I was!!
We finished off christmas day with our 4th celebration of the day, at T's parents Nona and Pappys. They sure do know how to spoil L as much as anyone and we enjoyed some yummy peanut butter roll while we were there that both T and I had been looking forward too!
Needless to say after a long, but great day we all slept well!! We all went home and got on our jammies and snuggled in for a long winters nap! The next day we had one of our lasts christmas celebrations with my parents, my sister and her family. L always has fun playing with his cousin who is so close to his age and he is also become very fond of the "baby" and loves to help him! But no for those of you whom I know will tell me, we will not be having one anytime soon!!

L sure was excited with the results of leaving the cookies though! Lets just say this child is way way too spoiled to only be two years old!! He enjoyed all his santa presents and is quite fond of "ho-ho" now!

Nana and Grandpa as usual spoiled L as well, and even got miss libby a special christmas treat. We had a wonderful christmas and all four got way more than we could have ever needed, but we are so blessed to have such awesome families that care so much about us! While the holidays were loads of fun we were happy for things to slow down so that we could enjoy our time together!
